What Can We Do for Tohoku: Tohoku-related Projects

About Women Help Women (WHW)
Women Help Women is a volunteer association of Korean and Japanese women to support the survivors of the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami, with a special focus in the sustainable recovery of women, children and businesses and to promote female entrepreneurship.
It is a volunteer group funded and supported by several empowerment organizations from Japan and Korea:
The Korean organizations
SungJoo Foundation, Korea Medical Women’s Association, Korea Cultural Exchange Council, Korea Women Soldiers’ Association, Korea Medical Women’s Association, Asian Business Women’s Association, Incoaching
The Japanese organizations
Global Enhancement of Women’s Executive Leadership (GEWEL),NPO KIFA, IMPACT Foundation Japan and Athlemedia
In addition, the Global Summit of Women and Relief 2.0 are providing technical and logistic support to the initiative.
Women Help Women was presented to the public on a Press Conference in Tokyo on July 8, 2011 where a donation of US$50,000 in cash plus US$150,000 in goods was announced. In addition a pledge of US$500,000 to support women, children and female entrepreneurship in Tohoku for the next five years was also announced.
